Watch continued coverage of the Best Friends rescue team at River Valley Puppies Kennel in Missouri.
Before i leave this earth, i hope there would be no more puppy mills out there. So sad and depressing cant these people find other ways to make money. just leave these beautiful animals alone.

These dogs are in my backyard and I am so thankful that Best Friends is able to assist MW PAWS in rescuing all the shorthairs. All of the dogs look to be in good shape and social which will aid them in finding forever homes where they will be loved and never live like this again.
Thanks Best Friends for all the good work you do!! And thanks for the education/awareness!! I am passing it on!
BEST FRIENDS.....YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!
I love what you are doing to help. However I as an owner an occasional breeder 1 litter every 2-5 years. Do not like being put into the same level as this Puppy Mill Breeder. I will do what ever I can as an owner of GSP to help. But just because the small breeders do what we do for the love of our breed and not to make money. Any reputable small breeder knows that you Never Make money. That is why there are all breed rescue organizations who stepped up to help as well. We do not condone what these folks did. So please do not put good breeders in the same box as these puppy mill people. I sell my puppies on spay -neuter contracts as many other breeders I know do. These people did nothing and it is a shame it was let go on for so long. We need better laws against puppy mill breeders. Again when these laws are written they should not go against the reputable small breeder. We are not the enemy here.
Thanks
I am almost ashamed that I live in MO, the "puppy mill capitol" of the US. What will it take for something to be done about these horrible situations??? (guess I know the answer to that).
Why doesn't the MO Dept of AG do more frequent and thorough inspections on these shady back country breeders instead of coming to my door in suburban St. Louis County and making me justify working with greyhound rescue and fostering a few dogs now & then? I had to jump thru hoops to avoid fines and penalties for trying to help homeless dogs! With three MAJOR puppy mill raids in the last few weeks, I'd say the dept is sadly missing the boat and falling down on the job they're supposed to be doing.
Well, as far as puppy-mills go these dogs look to be in pretty good shape....so let's hope the dogs all end up being adopted and lead "normal" lives. If you go to the kennel's River Valley web site it appears like a legitimate hunting dog breeder.... I guess he got in over his head, had health issues, probably money issues, and looks like he flipped out...but again, the dogs look like they were fed and seem to be interacting with the news crews and ag workers.
I just want to scream when I hear this kind of thing! This is a terrible situation but most hobby breeders know you don't make a dime breeding a litter or two in a year or a lifetime. Where were you when this guy was out here WITHOUT a license breeding these dogs?
Rescue groups nothing to help honest breeders when they come up with this kind of propaganda. they also don't do anything to help themselves - why would anyone want to adopt a dog that has a questionalble past.
These dogs aren't underfed or anti social - looks to me like a situation where a sick guy got over his head and freaked out. don't label these poor dogs as outcast!
Patricia...Mary Murray with GWP Rescue here in Olathe. I emailed Brianna when I heard of this...is there anything I can do to help?

I am a volunteer with Midwest PAWs and I just wanted to spread the word that we took these babies and now need help with money for vet bills, supplies, fostering and of course adopting! Check out our website at www.midwestpaws.com
Thanks!
We are fostering one of the GSP's, these dogs in general are all great, some need serious socialization while others might be able to be placed rather quickly.
Many times these stories fade in a week or two, people should remember that these dogs will be in foster care for a while and monetary donations are absolutely necessary to give these dogs a chance.
