Community Partners Training Program in New Jersey

02-24-2010

The Best Friends' Community Training Partner (CTP) program has developed a program that matches highly qualified dog trainers with shelters and families whose dogs have behavioral issues.  The first shelter that CTP is working with is the Monmouth County SPCA in Tinton Falls, NJ.

Mike Harmon is the manager of the Best Friends's Community Partner (CTP) program and Sam Wike, a certified professional dog trainer and behavior specialist, was the first dog trainer accepted into the program.

Harmon, along with Wike, recently visited the Monmouth County SPCA to meet the staff and check into the programs.

i used to work at the monmouth county spca, and volunteered there for a while. it makes me SUPER excited to see this pilot program happening there- im proud of the spca... and of the new facility... and am so personally thankful to everyone involved in this... thank you so so much. i knew the day would come when things would turn around at the shelter, and having the new building up and running, among other things, really made it happen. congrats and i wish you all the best of luck... and hopefully those pitties and other "overlooked" dogs do end up getting homes faster. this is amazing!!!!!
